Congratulating Bernice Harris on her 100 Birthday
WHEREAS Ms. Bernice Harris turned 100 years old on, today, October 19th. She is truly a testament of time, having experienced some of the most memorable periods of American history;
WHEREAS Bernice is one of only a handful of people who can attest to the events that have taken place over the last century, and how far we as a people have come;
WHEREAS Bernice remains devoted to her friends and neighbors, who have become her family at Jackson Square Nursing and Living Center. Bernice has lost her hearing, yet her spirit remains strong;
WHEREAS Bernice enjoys spending plenty of time with her puzzles each day. She also loves sitting down with a good book to read. She sincerely enjoys helping others and there are few people as loving and caring as Bernice;
WHEREAS, The Honorable Jason C. Ervin, Alderman of the 28th Ward, has apprised this October body of this remarkable woman's auspicious milestone; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 28th Day of October, 2015 AD, do hereby congratulate Bernice Harris on her centennial birthday and extend our very best wishes for many more birthdays to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be prepared and presented to Bernice Harris.
