RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Lewis Jordan has completed his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Housing Authority; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Lewis Jordan was named by former Mayor Richard M. Daley to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the nation's third-largest housing authority in 2007; and
WHEREAS, During the tenure of Lewis Jordan, the Chicago Housing Authority emerged out of a twenty-two-year court-ordered receivership and achieved an AA- bond rating, the highest of any housing authority in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Lewis Jordan oversaw the completion of the demolition of public housing high-rises in Chicago while establishing better housing environments for residents; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Lewis Jordan, state-of-the-art surveillance cameras were installed at all of the authority's properties; and
WHEREAS, Among his many other remarkable achievements while in office, Lewis Jordan also expanded opportunities for women and minorities to do business with the Chicago Housing Authority; and
WHEREAS, The hard work and dedication of Lewis Jordan serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixth day of July, 2011, do hereby congratulate Lewis Jordan on his many accomplishments as Chief Executive Officer of the Chicago Housing Authority and do hereby express our best wishes for his future success; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED^That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lewis Jordan. / / /
