RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 58; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. was the loving and devoted husband of Regina; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. was the much-adored father of five to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, A civil rights trailblazer, the Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. was a former National Executive Director of Operation PUSH; and

 

WHEREAS, Known as a dynamic minister, the Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. served for 14 years as the lead Pastor of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. founded New Hope Community Baptist Church of Chicago in 1991; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. rallied youth votes for the election of Mayor Harold Washington and led a voter registration drive for the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson's campaign for President; and

 

WHEREAS, The Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. was a former member of the Regional Transportation Authority Board; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby commemorate the Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr. for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Reverend L. Tyrone Crider Sr.
