RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, James J. Corno, Sr., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty-six; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Naperville, James J. Corno, Sr., was a pioneering sports broadcast executive and the loving husband of Carolyn, nee Daily; and
WHEREAS, James J. Corno, Sr., was the much-adored father of James J. Jr., and Christina and the grandfather of five to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The son of the late Bernard and Alberta, James J. Corno, Sr., was the dear brother of Bernard and Philomena and the late Annina and Marie; and
WHEREAS, James J. Corno, Sr., enjoyed a career that spanned more than three decades and ran every regional sports network in Chicago, including SportsVision, SportsChannel, Fox Sports Net and Comcast SportsNet; and
WHEREAS, An individual of immense vision and generosity, James J. Corno, Sr., assisted hundreds of charities over the years and was especially proud of his efforts on behalf of the "Sports Awards" dinner benefiting the March of Dimes; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of James J. Corno, Sr., serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared James J. Corno, Sr., to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, James J. Corno, Sr., will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, James J. Corno, Sr., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of January, 2014, do hereby commemorate James J. Corno, Sr., for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolen...
