RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Charlotte Bloomberg has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 102; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Medford, Massachusetts, Charlotte Bloomberg was the devoted wife of the late William; and
WHEREAS, The much-beloved matriarch of her family, Charlotte Bloomberg was the mother of Marjorie Tiven, the Honorable Michael and the grandmother of five; and
WHEREAS, Charlotte Bloomberg was a woman of unimpeachable integrity, fierce independence and constant love; and
WHEREAS, Raised in New Jersey where her parents owned a wholesale grocery company, Charlotte Bloomberg graduated in 1929 from New York University with a bachelor's degree in accounting; and
WHEREAS, Charlotte Bloomberg met her husband while working at a dairy, and the two married in 1934; and
WHEREAS, A woman of great faith, Charlotte Bloomberg helped transform her local synagogue where she remained an active and valued member for more than sixty years; and
WHEREAS, Friends and neighbors described Charlotte Bloomberg as a bright, uplifting woman who was intensely proud of her children and grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Charlotte Bloomberg will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her relatives, friends, and neighbors; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Charlotte Bloomberg imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixth day of July, 2011, do hereby commemorate Charlotte Bloomberg for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be ' presented to the family of Charlotte Bloomberg.
