RESOLUTION HONORING CHICAGO ACADEMY BOHAN BOOK CLUB

WHEREAS, The 36"¹ Ward and all of Chicago is full of great schools that rarely get the recognition they deserve; and

WHERES, The Chicago Academy Elementary School is a great example of one of those terrific schools, filled with great students, parents, teachers and staff where great things happen every day; and

WHEREAS, Bohan Book Club at The Chicago Academy meets at 7:15 every Thursday with eleven seventh grade students that are highly motivated and eager to read, write and learn from one another; and

WHEREAS, These students begin their early days with a 10 to 15 minute free write based on the chosen novel, and joyful, rigorous discussion on themes and concepts from the novel; and

WHEREAS, These books have included Lord of the Flies by William Golding, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton; and

WHEREAS, Jaser Awad, Gabryjela Kipa, Ivan Laguna, Diana Llamas, Amanda Monzon, Ghadeer Mustafa, Dae'Shanae Patrick, Briana Rendon, Julia Skoczen, Thomas Szyszka, and Nour Touti have shown exceptional dedication to academics: and

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, gathered here this 23^rd day of May, 2018 do hereby congratulate Chicago Academy Bohan Book Club:and
