MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR MAJOR LEE GREY
Whereas, Almighty God, in His true and infinite wisdom has summoned "Major" Lee Grey, to his eternal rest on October 27, 2019; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Stephanie D. Coleman, Alderman ofthe 16th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Major was born on October 7, 1975 in Chicago, Illinois and raised by his mother in Englewood community. He graduated from Spaulding High School in 1993, and went on to attend Whitewater University; and
WHEREAS, Major received Christ at an early age, and was baptized in 1988 at New Mt. Sinai M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor David Coleman. He later joined Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God, Apostolic Faith, with Pastor Davis during his adulthood; and
WHEREAS, Major used his love for basketball and softball as positive outlets. He was so passionate about softball that in 2018 he was awarded "Best Pitcher" on his wheelchair softball team as they participated in the World Series, Consolation Division, held in Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, Major enjoyed grilling, was the proclaimed Spades champion, and provided support for loved-ones by celebrating them often; and
WHEREAS, his mother Marie Calvin; daughters Rochelle and Rachelle Hampton; grandsons Chaleel and Kayden Benton; and Godson Randell; we wish you peace, comfort and encouragement when facing the days ahead. Cherish the love and memories that Major has shared with us all. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighteenth day of Decembermber, 2019, do hereby express our sincere sorrow upon the passing of Major Lee Grey and extend our deepest condolences to his family and all the many friends whose lives he has touched; and
