WHEREAS, on September 26, 2018, the Northern Illinois University College of Law Alumni Council awarded the Honorable Louis G. Apostol, prominent and esteemed former Commissioner to the Illinois Court of Claims and Executive Director of the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board with the prestigious Public Service Award; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of this honor by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, the Honorable Louis G. Apostol was bom on July 25, 1946 and earned a Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law, an M.B.A. in Management and Finance from Northern Illinois University, and a B.A. in Business Administration and Finance from Elm hurst College; and
WHEREAS; as a successful practicing attorney in the State of Illinois the Honorable Louis G. Apostol specialized in corporate, real estate, tax, banking, and government law in a distinguished career before the Bar; and
WHEREAS, prior to his appointment as Commissioner / Trial Judge to the Court of Claims, the Honorable Louis G. Apostol was Public Administrator of Cook County from 1991-2003 by appointment of the Governor; and
WHEREAS, in 1997, the Honorable Louis G. Apostol received the Hellene of the Year Award from the Hellenic Bar Association of Chicago; and ,
WHEREAS, the following year, in 1998, Northern Illinois University College of Law presented the Honorable Louis G. Apostol with the Distinguished Service Award; and
WHEREAS, in 2003, the Honorable Louis G. Apostol received appointment as Commissioner to the Illinois Court of Claims, serving citizens with their claims for monetary damages or personal injury against a state agency or state employee and awards to victims of violent crime by Governor Rod Blagojevich; and
WHEREAS, prior to joining the Chicago law firm of Much Shelist, the Honorable Louis G. Apostol was counsel with Freeborn & Peters LLP; and
