WHEREAS, On Monday, May 20, 2011, the Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom called to his eternal paradise, Officer Paul Winston Nauden; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this by 18th Ward Alderman Lona Lane; and
WHEREAS, Paul was born December 5, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Lawrence and Barbara Nauden; and
WHEREAS, He attended Martha Ruggles Elementary School and Chicago Vocational High School where he played defensive end on the varsity football team. To fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer, Paul attended Southern Illinois University where he majored in criminal justice; and
WHEREAS, Paul was baptized at the age of seventeen by Bishop Dotcy Isom at St. Paul C.M.E. Church. In 2001 Paul met his beautiful wife April Dione Manuel at St. Paul C.M.E. Church. In 2003, they were married and to this union two angels were born, Avril Alexandria and Alana Victoria. They were the light of his life and the epitome of daddy's girls; and
WHEREAS, Paul was a decorated 21 year veteran with the Chicago Police Department. He was currently assigned to the Homan Square facility as a member of the Narcotics investigation unit. He received numerous commendations, accolades and achievement awards for his service. He was especially proud of the Special Commendation he received as a member of the Alternative Lifestyle Homicide-Sex Task Force on May 5, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Paul was always willing to help out his family and could be depended upon in every situation. He was the best husband, father, brother and friend. Paul was THE BEST OF THE BEST; and
WHEREAS, Paul was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Nauden, Sr.; his grandparents, Norvell and France Lake; and leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, April; two daughters, Avril and Alana; mother, Barbara; one sister, Sherrie; three brothers, Lawrence Jr. (Angela), Norvell Philip (Cas-Sandra), Mathew (Mikeva); in-laws, Danny and Diana Haskins...
