TO THE HONORABLE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO


Ladies and Gentlemen:

I transmit herewith, together with Aldermen Waguespack, Martin, Garza, O'Shea, Rodriguez, Villegas, Brookins, Osterman, Sposato, Coleman, Hadden and Dowell, a resolution congratulating Major David and Debby Dalberg upon their retirement.

Your favorable consideration of this resolution will be appreciated.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, In recognition of their leadership and appreciation of their tireless work partnering with the City of Chicago to assist the City's most vulnerable residents at times of crisis, the Members of this Chamber are pleased to honor Majors David and Debra Dalberg, on the occasion of the conclusion of their service leading Emergency Disaster Services ("EDS") for The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division; and

WHEREAS, Major David Dalberg was commissioned and ordained as a Salvation Army officer and clergy in 1966. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Urban Studies from Elmhurst College in Illinois (cum laude) in 1979, and received the Master of Arts degree in human resource development from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul/Minneapolis in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Prior to serving at EDS, Major David Dalberg was responsible for The Salvation Army disaster response during the Minnesota and North Dakota floods, served on territorial assessment teams related to the Oklahoma City bombing and the Northridge earthquake and became Incident Commander for the earthquake-related services; and

WHEREAS, In June of 2005 Major David Dalberg was appointed to The Salvation Army's Metropolitan Division of the Central Territory where he presently serves as the Divisional Disaster Services Director; and

WHEREAS, Major David Dalberg is responsible for overseeing Salvation Army disaster services throughout the Greater Chicago area including 12 surrounding counties, including being The ...
