RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE LIFE OF CLARETHA JONES RAYNER
WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom has chosen to call His precious child, Claretha Jones Rayner, home to her eternal reward after an eventful and rewarding life of forty-seven years; and
WHEREAS, Claretha Jones Rayner, a most beloved citizen, friend and towering figure in Chicago's great eighth ward community was called home by our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, July 11, 2011; and
WHEREAS, A precious flower born April 29, 1964 to loving parents in our great city of Chicago, was named Claretha. She was the fourth child born to the late Ivory Bell and Solomon Jones, Sr., and was predeceased by one brother, Michael Anthony; and
WHEREAS, Claretha accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. C.R. Philips. She attended Charles P. Caldwell Elementary School and graduated from Bowen High School, where she participated in the Cooperative Work Training Program. Claretha was a dedicated employee for the Federal Government for more than twenty years. She worked for the Veterans Administration, Railroad Retirement Board and the Internal Revenue Service; and
WHEREAS, Claretha Jones captured the heart of a young man William Todd Rayner, the man who became her loving husband and soul mate. Claretha and William shared a multitude of memorable times together and with other family members and friends. Claretha reached out and touched many, she will be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, friend and neighbor who enriched the lives of all who knew her in countless ways; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been notified of Claretha Jones Rayner's transition by the Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Her parents and brother, Michael Anthony, having predeceased her, Claretha Jones Rayner leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her loving husband, William Todd Rayner; grandmother, Claretha...
