Resolution Honoring Frank Alschuler on the Occasion of his 90 Birthday
WHEREAS, Frank Alschuler will be celebrating the momentous occasion of his 90th birthday on September 10, 2014; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Chicago has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable James Cappleman, Alderman of the 46th Ward; and
WHEREAS, a longtime resident of the Uptown community, Frank has dedicated his life to service to others, and has been tremendously impactful on his community; and
WHEREAS, bom in 1924, Frank attended Swift Elementary school in Chicago's Edgewater Community, University of Chicago Lab High School, Dartmouth College, and Yale School of Architecture, he also spent time as a serviceman in the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, Frank married the love of his life in 1960 and moved to Junior Terrace residences in Uptown five years later. Over the span of almost 50 years, Frank has witnessed firsthand the changes in the neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Frank and his late wife, Marjorie, committed themselves to being advocates for mental health throughout their time in the Uptown community. As the founder of the Community Counseling Center of Chicago, Frank used his technical skills as a licensed architect to contribute to the design of the facility, and served on the Community Counseling Center of Chicago's Board for 42 years; and
WHEREAS, a man devoted to his family, Frank Alschuler made sure his children were involved.as participants in the community from a young age, and instilled in them a sense of duty to serve others; and
WHEREAS, the Uptown neighborhood is fortunate to have such a dedicated public servant in their community, and his neighbors and friends wish him continued health and happiness in all his endeavors; now, therefore
