WHEREAS, Father Richard Andrus holds an M.A. In Divinity and African-American Theology and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the Catholic Theological Union and a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Divine Word College; and
WHEREAS, Father Andrus has been the Pastor of Saint Elizabeth's for thirteen years; and
WHEREAS, Saint Elizabeth's Catholic Church located at 50 East 41st Street, is the oldest African-American Catholic Parish in Chicago having celebrated their 130th Anniversary in November, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Father Andrus, Saint Elizabeth's serves the community through multiple ministries, a weekly food pantry, and through hosting CAPS and other community meetings; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being a Pastor and the ways in which Saint Elizabeth's serves the community, Father Andrus also puts his faith into practice by serving as a Board Member for the Genesis Housing Development Corporation and the The Renaissance Collaborative, which are two organizations that provide housing and other services for Chicago's most vulnerable residents; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Chicago assembled this 13th day of March, 2013 do hereby acknowledge the important service of Father Richard Andrus to the community around Saint Elizabeth's Catholic Church and wish him the best as he moves on to another parish; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Father Richard Andrus and his family.
