MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF
DOLLIE VIRGINIA CLAY
WHEREAS, Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom and judgment has called her to her eternal kingdom, Ms. Dollie Virginia Clay, beloved citizen and friend, on July 12, 2011; and
WHEREAS, This August body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Dollie Virginia Clay entered the world in Houston, Mississippi, on September 25, 1949, to Dolly Mae and Floyd Moseley, both who preceded her in death. Furthermore, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and daughter; and
WHEREAS, Dollie Virginia Clay accepted Christ as her personal savior, and known as "Ma", who was deeply respected and loved by all who knew her for her generosity, kindness and compassion; and
WHEREAS, Dollie Virginia Clay was a proud, dedicated and long-time resident of Chicago's west side; and
WHEREAS, Dollie Virginia Clay attended Cooley High and graduated from John Marshall High School. She married Johnell Coleman and to this union, three children were born. An honors graduate of Debbie's Beauty College in 1980, she started a career as a stylist. Known for her strong sense of flair and sharp fashion sense, she was a trendsetter; she also worked at Osco and Home Depot; and
WHEREAS, Dollie was known as a mother to many of her children's friends, when she remarried in 1987 to her life companion, Walter Clay, they opened their hearts and home to her deceased sister Pamela's three children, raising them as their own.
WHEREAS, Dollie Virginia Clay completed her life's mission and departed this life on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. She leaves to treasure her precious memories: Her husband, Walter; her brother, Robert Moseley, a niece, Barbara; her children, Maurice, Latisha (Nate), Jarmaine (Lesha), Lashonda (Marcel), and Robin; son, Calvin Clayborn, several extended sons, 16 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, special in-laws, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and very...
