MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Paul D. Cale, CFD, on August 10, 2013, at the age of 75; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Paul D. Cale, CFD, the beloved husband of Maureen, nee Maher, for fifty-one years; loving father of Lisa (Damon) Harrell, Dina (Lisa Atterberry) Cale, Jennifer (Dr. Thomas) Martin, and Natalie (Matt Freiberg) Cale; devoted grandfather of Ashley, Emma, Sierra, Lauren and Zachary; dear brother of Frank (Ann) and Nat (Pat) Cale; treasured uncle of numerous nieces and nephews; preceded in death by Barbara (Donald) Elens. Paul leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Born on April 28, 1938. Paul was a beloved husband, devoted father, adoring Poppa, selfless brother and uncle, and proud, family-loving Sicilian. A loyal friend, supportive neighbor, 'and life-long Chicagoan, Paul was a dedicated Queen of All Saints parishioner a community volunteer and past president of the Sauganash Community Association. He was proud to be a United States Marine Corps Veteran and a retired Chicago Fire Department Lieutenant at Trucks 21 and 28, photo unit, Engine 79, and OFI, as well as a former member of the Front Nine Golf Group and the Fire Brigade; and
WHEREAS, Paul will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eleventh day of September 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Paul D. Cale and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
