RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE LIFE OF LYDIA DENISE MINNIS
WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called Lydia Denise Minnis, an outstanding citizen and friend, to her everlasting reward Monday, May 10, 2011; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman ofthe 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born July 7, 1957, in Chicago, IL. Lydia Denise Minnis was the loving first born child and daughter of Calvin and Lottie Louise Minnis. Lydia received her education from Austin High School and was attending various community colleges in Chicago, in pursuit of a degree as a paralegal, until her health began to fail her last fall; and
WHEREAS, Lydia Denise Minnis was a true servant of God, and she devoted much of her time helping others, even as her illness progressed.
WHEREAS, Lydia Denise Minnis was a devout member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, where she participated joyously with the congregation and adored and mothered all of the youth in the church and abroad. She faithfully served in various capacities at the church. She will be sorely missed, but the memory of her character, warmth, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; and
WHEREAS, Lydia Denise Minnis leaves to cherish her life and her memory her much loved and treasured children, Steven, Antione and Tomia (Mia); Granddaughters: Shania and Leila; parents, Lottie Louise Minnis and Calvin Minnis, Sr.; brother: Calvin Minnis, Jr.; sister: Rosalind Alicia (Daniel) Miller; and a host of other nieces and nephews, relatives and many friends; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this 8th day of June, 2011, A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Lydia Denise Minnis and extend to her family our sincere condolences.
