CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO PARAMEDIC IN CHARGE VICKY JANOZIK ON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, On November 5, 2021, Paramedic in Charge Vicky Janozik retires from the Chicago Fire Department following 31 years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Matthew J. O'Shea, Alderman of the 19th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Paramedic in Charge Janozik began her illustrious career with the Chicago Fire Department on July 16, 1990, and retires as a valued member of Ambulance 17 in Mount Greenwood; and
WHEREAS, Being a paramedic exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the paramedics who must daily cope with the stress and danger of putting their lives on the line for countless City residents, but also on their family members; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her long and distinguished tenure, Paramedic in Charge Janozik upheld the finest traditions of the Chicago Fire Department, and her hard work, commitment, and dedication to duty earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the communities she served; and
WHEREAS, Paramedic in Charge Janozik previously served on ambulances 58, 21, 37, 9, and 12; she has received numerous awards for her efforts including the Chicago Fire Department's Unit Performance Award in June 2008, November 2008, and May 2010, as well as the Clinical Resuscitation Award in March 2014, and February 2017; and
WHEREAS, Paramedic in Charge Janozik has devoted 31 years of her life to public service and the people of the City of Chicago, and in doing so, has personally ensured the City is the safe, healthy, and vibrant community it is today; and
WHEREAS, In retirement, Paramedic in Charge Janozik will continue cheering on the Chicago Cubs; reading; keeping up with her three adult daughters, Allison, Emily, and Mallory; and finally getting to take her dream vacation to Australia; and
