SALUTE TO JIM AND GERRY MEEKMA
WHEREAS, On Saturday, September 20, 2014 Jim and Gerry Meekma celebrate their 60 Wedding Anniversary with their children and grandchild as well as their other relations and close friends: and
WHEREAS, This is a unique and significant milestone for a marriage in this day and age with divorce so prevalent and families torn asunder. It is estimated that only 4% of marriages survive for 60 years; and
WHEREAS Jim and Gerry Meekma are truly outstanding role models for families everywhere. Although times haven't been and won't always be easy, this loving couple has demonstrated it is possible to stay together and make a marriage last; and
WHEREAS, Jim and Gerry Meekma exemplify how much a long-lived marriage can inspire other people, especially their progeny. No matter what else they accomplish in their lives, 60 years of marriage will be one of their most monumental achievements and their greatest legacy; and,
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body ofthe significant milestone and tremendous commitment of Jim and Gerry Meekma; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here this 8 day of October, 2014 AD, salute Jim and Gerry Meekma for the success that 96% of married couples will not know and extend our heartfelt wishes for health happiness and success in all they endeavor to do for many more years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Jim and Gerry Meekma.
