SALUTE TO A DECADE OF I-GO IN CHICAGO
WHEREAS, On December 4, 2012 at the Chicago Cultural Center, I-GO Car Sharing, this city's most innovative personal transportation programs will hold a 10th Anniversary Gala; and
WHEREAS, A decade ago, I-GO Car Sharing started in this city with a mission to make Chicago a better place by allowing city residents an affordable alternative to owning a car in more than 40 neighborhoods and five suburbs; and
WHEREAS, It is estimated that a reduction of 25,000 metric tons of C02 emissions annually is achieved through I-GO's use of fuel-efficient and low-emission vehicles. Each I-GO vehicle can replace as many as 17 private vehicles. Their fleet is thought to have removed as many as 9,000 private vehicles from Chicago-area streets throughout the last decade.
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman ofthe 2nd Ward, has apprised this august body of the notable achievements of this premiere Chicago business; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 15th Day of November, 2012 AD, do hereby salute I-GO for its responsible and environmental friendly business model, congratulate it on its decade of great service and express our best wishes for continued growth and success for many more decades to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to I-GO Car Sharing.
