WHEREAS, James "Colonel" Wells, star number 12881, an outstanding public servant and member of his community, retires as an officer of the Chicago Police Department after thirteen years of dedicated service to the people of this city; and
WHEREAS, James served with distinction and dedication in the 006th District. During his career Officer Wells was awarded nine Honorable Mentions, two Complimentary Letters, one Crime Reduction Award (2009), one Crime Reduction Ribbon (2004), one Nato Summit Service Award and one Presidential Election Deployment Award (2008); and
WHEREAS, The police have the very essential job of ensuring the safety and order of their community. This sworn officer has an important role in protecting lives and property, maintaining order and enforcing all laws accurately; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Lona Lane, Alderman ofthe 18th Ward, has apprised this august body of Wells' significant milestone; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this tenth day of December, 2014 A.D., do hereby salute James "Colonel" Wells for his many years of dedicated service to the safety of this city and extend our very best wishes for health, happiness, and success in all future endeavors.
