RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio Ramos has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-seven; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A resident of Winnetka, Dr. Antonio Ramos was a widely admired member of the medical community and the loving husband of Dr. Ana Laura; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio Ramos was the much-adored father of Antonio, Jr., Jose, Ana Maria and Angelica to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of Mexico, Dr. Antonio Ramos graduated from the University of Mexico City as a doctor in surgery; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio Ramos came to the United States in 1951 and rose to become a prominent cardiovascular surgeon; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio Ramos ran a clinic at 19th Street and Blue Island Avenue in the Pilsen neighborhood and was a trusted mentor to many doctors in the Hispanic community; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Antonio Ramos also had a private practice in Lake View for twenty years; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, compassion and dedication of Dr. Antonio Ramos serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. Antonio Ramos to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dr. Antonio Ramos imparts a legacy of. faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2013, do hereby commemorate Dr. Antonio Ramos for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Antonio Ramos.
