MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Eugene 0. "Gene-O" Johnson, on November 17, 2014, at the age of eighty-five; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Gene-0 was the former spouse of Betty-Ann, nee Ochsner; loving father of Betty-Gene, Dr. Catherine (Don) Larson, Karen Normandy, Eugene B. and Dorene; cherished grandfather of Kyle Larsen, Tiffany Larson, Nikola Eugene Normandy and Tiffany Contreras; dear brother of Roy (Lorraine) and Mae (Robert) Jensen; fond uncle and granduncle of Barbara, Donald (Cynthia), Thomas (Sarah) Jensen, as well as many other nieces and nephews; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Gene-0 leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Gene-0 was an active and vital member of his community who touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, heart and spirit, as a United States Army veteran of the Korean War; lifelong resident of Chicago; an officer in the Indian Woods Community Association; long-time member of several car clubs including Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) and Cadillac and LaSalle Club; and
WHEREAS, Gene-0 will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this tenth day of December, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Eugene O. "Gene-O" and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eugene O. "Gene-O"Johnson.
