RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Frank Jerbich has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 92; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Frank was the son ofthe late Mihalj and Anna, loving husband ofthe late Isabelle for 32 years, close friend of the late Marie McGuckin, father of Nadine Zapolsky, Edward (Camilla) Zapolsky, Catherine (Phil) Perrone, Michael (Jean) Jerbich, and the late Thomas Zapolsky, father-in-law of Christine Zapolsky, grandfather of 6, great-grandfather of 13, and friend to many; and
WHEREAS, Frank served in the United States Army beginning on March 13,1951 during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on February 25,1953; and
WHEREAS, In 1956, Frank married Isabelle "Issy" Zapolsky and moved his blended family to the Chicago's West Lawn community in which Frank remained until his passing; and
WHEREAS, Frank began his career as a machinist at the Gross Printing Company in 1947; and
WHEREAS, Frank began work with the first printing press for Wall Street Journal, and later Oak Forest Hospital, and eventually retired from the Chicago Police Department in 1993; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Frank dedicated himself to various organizations, including the Boys Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, He was a proud union member ofthe International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for 74 years; and
WHEREAS, Frank served as a board member ofthe National Federation of Croatian Americans, and President ofthe Croation Fraternal Union Sloboda Lodge 32; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Frank Jerbich imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of July, 2021, do hereby commemorate Frank Jerbich for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
