RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Schroeder is retiring from a career as a teacher at St. John Fisher School on June 8U\ 2017; and

 

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his retirement by the Honorable Matthew O' Shea, Alderman of the 19th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Schroeder has been dedicated to Physical Education for over 40 years; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel was born on August 4th, 1951. He attended St. Rita High School as a part of the all-Catholic football league with a four-year football scholarship. After graduation in 1970, he continued playing football while wearing #67 first as a linebacker, then as an offensive guard at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he graduated in 1974 with a degree in Physical Education and Recreation; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel worked for the Chicago Park District at Graver Park, Mt. Greenwood Park, Beverly Park, and Tarkington Park, where he implemented programs such as men's softball leagues, little league, soccer, and day camps. He was a supervisor at Marquette Park until his retirement in 2004; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel also served the Archdiocese of Chicago by teaching Physical Education at Christ the King School for 25 years and recently at St. John Fisher School; and

 

WHEREAS, The City Council is grateful for the services provided by our educators; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, gathered here this nineteenth day of April, 2017, do hereby express our gratitude and heartiest congratulations to Daniel Schroeder as he retires. We extend to this fine citizen our very best wishes for continuing success and fulfillment.
