RESOLUTION HONORING ALBERT P. CAREY


WHEREAS, ALBERT P. CAREY has served with distinction for the past four decades and has held a series of crucial leadership positions, including CEO of Frito-Lay North America in Texas, CEO of Pepsi-Cola North American Beverages in New York and ultimately as CEO of the entire PepsiCo North American business, including Quaker Oats in Chicago, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, he has demonstrated a unique combination of style and skill, entrepreneurial vision and executional excellence that has demonstrated deep devotion to the millions of Quaker Oats consumers throughout the U.S.; and
WHEREAS, as an extraordinary individual, he has embodied the values of teamwork, focus on consumers, respect for associates throughout the work force and for the communities in which the company operates, always committed to acting with integrity and the highest standards of excellence; and
WHEREAS, he has made a valuable contribution to society as a champion of diversity and engagement, often leading PepsiCo's engagement with leading Latino organizations such as the US Hispanic Leadership Institute, UnidosUS, and NALEO (National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials); and
WHEREAS, he has practiced servant leadership throughout his career, removing obstacles and creating new opportunities for others, helping to establish PepsiCo's Ring of Honor which recognizes the work of front-line sales associates, and serving as a mentor to countless PepsiCo employees; and
WHEREAS, it is publicly acknowledged that his endeavors individually and as a leader in PepsiCo have helped to enhance neighborhoods throughout the US, such as PepsiCo's partnership with City Colleges of Chicago to provide scholarships and job training for Chicago residents to enter career paths with PepsiCo;
