MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR LORETTA W. JONES
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the departure of Loretta W. Jones on August 20, 2015; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of Loretta W. Jones's passing by the Honorable Anthony A. Bcale, Alderman of the 9,h Ward; and
WHEREAS, Loretta W. Jones was born to the late Buelah Stanton and johnny Watts in Clarksdalc, Mississippi, on August 8, 1939; and
WHEREAS, Loretta moved to Chicago at the age of 17; later marrying the love of her life, Willie James Pullins. They were the proud parents of two children, Deirdre Lorrin (Dee) and Marc Antony (Tony); and
WHEREAS, Loretta spent several years working as a clerk in a stationery store, a bank teller, and a manager of several Currency Exchange locations. Loretta also had a strong entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating a restaurant and her own liquor and convenience store, Lori's Extra Value Wine and Liquors. After 9 successful years of running her own business, Loretta decided to close the store after witnessing die deleterious impact liquor was having on her community. Loretta went on to become a successful vendor of Aloe Vera products, hosting a live two-hour infomercial on WVON radio; and
WHEREAS, Loretta accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a founding member of Christian Ministry Baptist Church. For the past forty years, she was a dedicated member of Life Center Church of God in Christ, formerly Mt. Zion Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Loretta leaves to cherish her memory her children, Deirdre Lorrin Pullins and Marc Antony Pullins (Lorice); brother, Maurice Campbell; sisters, Sandra Harper and Carolyn Garrett and a host of friends and extended family; and
WHEREAS, Loretta was preceded in death by her sister, Lctha Franklin and cherished granddaughter, Jordyne L. Pullins; and
WHEREAS, Known for her kind heart, Loretta is remembered for her beautiful sense of humor, welcoming nature and no-nonsense personality. ...
