CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO ENGINEER DAVID ENGEL ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, On October 29, 2021, Engineer David Engel retires from the Chicago Fire Department following 28 years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Matthew J: O'Shea, Alderman ofthe 19th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Engineer Engel began his illustrious career with the Chicago Fire Department on September 1, 1993, and retires as a valued member of Engine 92 in Mount Greenwood; and
WHEREAS, Firefighting exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the firefighters who must daily cope with the stress and danger of putting their lives on the line for countless City residents, but also on their family members; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his long and distinguished tenure, Engineer Engel upheld the finest traditions ofthe Chicago Fire Department, and his hard work, commitment, and dedication to duty earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the communities he protected; and
WHEREAS, After becoming a firefighter, Engineer Engel was first assigned to Engine 29 where he received the Unit Performance Award, and has served on Engine 92, Engine 8, and Truck 45, and, upon being promoted to Engineer, he served District 1's Engine 97 and Engine 92; and
WHEREAS, Engineer Engel has devoted 28 years of his life to public service and the people of the City of Chicago, and in doing so, has personally ensured the City is the safe, healthy, and vibrant community it is today; and
WHEREAS, In retirement, Engineer Engel will continue fishing, including entering Bass Fishing Tournaments, and spending time with his wife, Dana, and his children, Nicholas, Halle, and Luke; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of the City of Chicago want to recognize the great debt owed to our public servants and extend our sincerest gratitude for the long and prolific career of Engineer Engel; now, therefore
