RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Ettore R. Divito, Jr., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-seven; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Ettore R. Divito, Jr., was a retired Commander with the Chicago Police Department and the loving husband of Lydia, nee Schiavone; and
WHEREAS, Ettore R. Divito, Jr., was the much-adored father of Frank and Gia and the grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Ettore R. Divito, Jr., was the devoted son of the late Ettore and Celeste and the dear brother of Anthony, Celia, Emily and the late Reverend John; and
WHEREAS, Ettore R. Divito, Jr., served with honor and distinction as a valued member of the Chicago Police Department for forty-two years and retired in 1999; and
WHEREAS, A partner, teacher and friend to many, Ettore R. Divito, Jr., loved his Italian heritage and was actively involved in many Italian-American organizations; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Ettore R. Divito, Jr., serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Ettore R. Divito, Jr., to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Ettore R. Divito, Jr., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of January, 2013, do hereby commemorate Ettore R. Divito, Jr., for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
