CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO 16th DISTRICT POLICE OFFICERS JACQUELIN KINSELLA AND THOMAS SURMA FOR EXEMPLARY POLICE WORK DURING THE PAST
TWELVE MONTHS
WHEREAS, On Friday, November 6, 2015, The Gladstone Park Chamber of Commerce gathered together to honor 16th District Police Officers Jacquelin Kinsella and Thomas Surma for exemplary police work during the past twelve months; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of this occasion by Alderman Margaret Laurino, 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Police Officers Kinsella and Surma have upheld the finest traditions of the law enforcement community and their hard work, commitment and dedication to duty earned them the respect and admiration of their colleagues and the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Throughout their careers, the efforts of Officer Kinsella and Officer Surma have been recognized with over two-hundred honorable mentions, numerous complimentary letters, department commendations, unit meritorious awards and a lifesaving award; and
WHEREAS, During the past twelve months, Officer Kinsella and Officer Surma have made numerous arrests involving armed robbery, aggravated battery and a homicide. In addition, the arrests of individuals possessing illegal handguns have included street gang members and a suspect who attacked a police officer during a "routine" traffic stop; and
WHEREAS, Thanks to the bravery and competence of Officer Jacquelin Kinsella and Officer Thomas Surma, the overall crime index is down, and crime categories are the lowest they've been in forty years in the 16th District; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed to Police Officer Jacquelin Kinsella and Police Officer Thomas Surma for their exemplary police work during the past twelve months; now therefore,
