I transmit herewith a resolution congratulating Anthony Riccio on the occasion of his retirement as First Deputy Superintendent of Police.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, After 34 years of service to the City of Chicago, First Deputy Superintendent Anthony Riccio will retire from the Chicago Police Department on August 1, 2020; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Chicago's North Side, who currently lives in Edison Park, First Deputy Riccio is the son of Richard and Mary Riccio. His father retired as a Lieutenant in the Chicago Police Department; and
WHEREAS, First Deputy Riccio held numerous high-level positions in the Chicago Police Department, serving as Chief of the Bureau of Organized Crime, as Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Detectives, and as Commander of the 17th (Albany Park) District. He oversaw hundreds of officers and detectives over the course of his stellar career; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure in the Bureau of Detectives, First Deputy Riccio presided over the investigation into the murder of Hadiya Pendleton in 2013 and of Joseph ("Joey") Wallace in 1993; and
WHEREAS, As First Deputy Superintendent, Anthony Riccio was responsible for all aspects of patrol operations, deployment and criminal investigations in the second-largest police department in the Nation; and
WHEREAS, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown called First Deputy Riccio "a steadfast example of a true Chicago police officer — someone who simply wants to protect the City"; and
WHEREAS, First Deputy Riccio serves on the board of the Chicago High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), and is also a member ofthe International Association of Chiefs of Police, where he holds a top-secret clearance; and
