RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, The Honorable Joyce Skoog has gone to her eternal reward at the age of seventy-three; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Joyce Skoog was a suburban elected official and the loving wife for fifty-four years of Roy; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Joyce Skoog was the much-adored mother of Cheryl, Linda, Bradley A. and Melissa, and the grandmother of four to whom she imparted many of the fine and gracious qualities that she possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Joyce Skoog served the Village of Hinsdale for twenty years, holding positions on the Planning Commission, as a Trustee on the Village Board, as Chair of the Fire & Police Commission, as Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals and as the first woman President of the Village; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, the Honorable Joyce Skoog graduated from DePaul University and earned her master's degree in adult education from the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Joyce Skoog worked for Arthur Andersen, the United Way, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the College of DuPage; and

WHEREAS, After having held senior management positions in fund development, community relations, communications, and continuing education, the Honorable Joyce Skoog retired in 2002 as S.V.P. of Institutional Advancement of the Aspen Institute; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Joyce Skoog serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Joyce Skoog will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To her beloved family, the Honorable Joyce Skoog imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of March, 2014, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Joyce Skoog for her grace-fille...
