RESOLUTION HONORING PATRICK. J. TOWNSEND ON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, After 35 years of service, Patrick J. Townsend is retiring from the Chicago Park District; and
WHEREAS, Patrick J. Townsend began his career, at 19 years of age, with the Chicago Park District, and became a physical instructor at Mc Guane Park, and was eventually promoted to Park Supervisor, then Area Manager, and finally Region Manager; and
WHEREAS, Patrick J. Townsend has been a dedicated public servant for 35 years, mentoring, coaching, and guiding young people through sports and programs in the community; and
WHEREAS, Along with his duties as at Chicago Park District employee, Patrick was always there to assist with other programs that impacted the park programs, such as the Chicago Polar Plunge, Special Olympics Spring Games, and other citywide events; and
WHEREAS, Patrick and his family are lifelong residents ofthe 11th Ward Bridgeport community, where he has served the majority of his career to the grateful citizens of our community; and
WHEREAS, Patrick will be honored by his co-workers, friends, and family at a celebration in his honor on Friday, January 29, 2016 at De La Salle High School; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the Members ofthe City Council of the City of Chicago, do hereby extend our heartiest congratulations to Patrick J. Townsend on his retirement from public service with best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be made available for
