MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Joseph B. Carini, Jr., on September 22, 2014, at the age of eighty; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born on June 30,1934, Joseph was the beloved husband of fifty-five years to the late Barbara F. Carini, nee Fischer, loving father who gave his practical wisdom and thoughtful guidance to his seven children; Christian, Julia, David, Joseph III, Anne, Daniel and Mary; devoted father-in-law to Lauren Bird, Carolyn Coyne, Maureen Craddock, Matthew Maddock, Frances Demos and Patrick McKenna; cherished Nonu of Catherine, John, Michael, Daniel, Kelly, Patrick, Frances, Dominic, Grace, Kailey, Joseph IV, Elizabeth, Matthew, Carolyn, Francesca, Christian, Maria, Jane and Julia; dear brother-in-law of Mary Ann (the late Roger) Anderson and the late Edwin (Diane) Fischer; treasured uncle of many nieces and nephews; and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Joseph leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, Joseph, who touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, heart and spirit, was active and vital in his community, as a proud graduate of St. Mary ofthe Lake, St. George High School, Loyola University and Loyola University Chicago School of Law; and

WHEREAS, Joseph will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, gathered here this fifth day of November, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Joseph B. Carini, Jr. and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph B. Carini, Jr.
