RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Charles and the Honorable Maxine Lange have been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of their passings by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Charles and the Honorable Maxine Lange were a prominent North Shore couple who gave generously to their community; and
WHEREAS, Charles and the Honorable Maxine Lange met while attending Roosevelt University in Chicago and were married in 1953; and
WHEREAS, Charles and the Honorable Maxine Lange were longtime residents of Evanston where they were active in issues that included fair housing and school integration; and
WHEREAS, Charles Lange was a retired research professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood; and
WHEREAS, Charles Lange also taught and provided research and laboratory services at Hines Veterans Hospital in Maywood; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Maxine Lange served on the Evanston City Council from 1971 to 1979; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure, the Honorable Maxine Lange brought new life to the suburb's cafes and restaurants by supporting an amendment that allowed liquor to be served in the once-dry suburb; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Maxine Lange helped institute PruCare, a North Shore-based HMO where she served as administrator; and
WHEREAS, In the early 1990s, the Honorable Maxine Lange began the Visiting Nurses Association's hospice program; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Maxine Lange established the Evanston Farmer's Market, among other civic accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Charles and the Honorable Maxine Lange passed away less than a week between each other and their steadfast love served as an example for all; and
WHEREAS, To their beloved family, Charles and the Honorable Maxine Lange impart a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
