RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Ambert Kenneth Hartle has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 103; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A member of our nation's "Greatest Generation," Ambert Kenneth Hartle was the loving husband for 60 years of the late Kathryn Jeanne; and
WHEREAS, Ambert Kenneth Hartle was the much-adored father of Pamela, Karen, Kenneth and Kathryn, the grandfather of ten and the great-grandfather of sixteen to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Bakersfield, California, Ambert Kenneth Hartle served his country during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Ambert Kenneth Hartle worked as a shipbuilder at a Navy yard in Vallejo, an important role in the war effort, before joining the Seabees and serving as a Navy salvage diver; and
WHEREAS, Ambert Kenneth Hartle retrieved bodies from the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and served on Eniwetok Island and the Gilbert Islands among other South Pacific locations; and
WHEREAS, Ambert Kenneth Hartle salvaged ships and planes and towed away unexploded torpedoes; and
WHEREAS, Following the war, Ambert Kenneth Hartle resided in Buena Park, California before becoming a chicken breeder in northern San Diego County; and
WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Ambert Kenneth Hartle was considered the Navy's oldest World War II salvage diver; and
WHEREAS, The courage, sacrifice and dedication of Ambert Kenneth Hartle serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Ambert Kenneth Hartle to his family members, friends and all who knew
him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Ambert Kenneth Hartle imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
