Memorial Resolution for Raul Rodriguez

 

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness and respect that the members of this Chamber learned of the passing of Raul Rodriguez, a man that set an example for all Chicagoans; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez was born in San Luis Potosf, Mexico to Esperanza Rodriguez and Jose Rodriguez; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez came to the United States at the age of 23 with the drive, passion and determination it takes to live the American Dream; and,

 

WHEREAS, After decades of hard work, Mr. Rodriguez fulfilled his dream to open Jacqueline's Lounge, the cleanest and most welcoming watering hole in all Chicago; and,

 

WHEREAS, Welcoming the community into Jacqueline's Lounge, Mr. Rodriguez continued to serve as a pillar of his community, as he always was to his wife, Martha, his two children, Raul Jr. and Jacquelyn, and his five grandchildren, Ameer Rodriguez, Nazih Rodriguez, Izeya Rodriguez, Noel Rodriguez, and Briella Rodriguez; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Raul Rodriguez left his family and community with countless lessons which improved everyone around him every day. His bold and uncompromising ways will never be forgotten, and we are all better because of Mr. Raul Rodriguez; now therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this Wednesday, June 12th, 2019, do hereby declare that North Sayre Avenue between West Diversey Avenue and West Schubert Avenue be given the honorary street name of Raul Rodriguez Way.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution are presented to the family of Raul Rodriguez as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
