MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned ofthe death of Ivory Mae Brown-Wilder, on January 4, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has'been informed of his passing by The Honorable Deborah Graham, Alderman of the 29th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Ivory Mae Brown-Wilder was born on April 13,1935 in Sturgis, Mississippi, the third child to the union of Buster and Daisy Lee Brown; and
WHEREAS, Ivory Mae moved to Chicago in 1954, and in October of 1966 married Cleveland Wilder. Their union bore five children, Jerome, Romonia, Belinda, Jerry "Stacey", and Shawn. Ivory Mae balanced work and family life seamlessly for many years as a dedicated employee of Cook County Hospital for 25 years; and
WHERAS, Ivory Mae gave her life to Christ at an early age, and in 1964 joined the congregation at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained active and involved in the church community until her passing. She served on multiple boards and was active as a pastor's aide, and was a positive force in many parishioner's lives as a role model who embodied the teachings of Christ and dedicated her life to serving others; and
WHEREAS, a mother to five but a mentor and mother-figure in her community to many, she will be remembered by her nurturing spirit, wisdom and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her; now, there
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-first day of January, 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Ivory Mae Brown-Wilder and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ivory Mae Brown-Wilder.
