RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Byron has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 69; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Byron was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving husband of Patricia, nee Rogers; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Byron was the much-adored father of Heather, Bridget, James and Brett and the grandfather of six to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Byron served with distinction for 42 years as a member of the Chicago Police Department and retired as a Homicide Detective; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his long and illustrious career, Thomas E. Byron upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Thomas E. Byron serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Thomas E. Byron to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Thomas E. Byron imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this nineteenth day of April, 2017, do hereby commemorate Thomas E. Byron for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
