WHEREAS, On Thursday, June 13, 2013, the Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom called to his eternal journey, Maynard Sherman; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this by 18th Ward Alderman Lona Lane; and
WHEREAS, Maynard was bom on April 26, 1935, and was the fifth often children born to the union of Robert and Amanda Sherman; and
WHEREAS, As a youngster he and his brothers enjoyed washing and waxing cars in the alley on Chestnut; and
WHEREAS, Maynard attended the Chicago Public School systems and graduated from Washburn Trade School. He furthered his education and continued by going to Barber College; and
WHEREAS, He enjoyed fishing, bowling, roller skating, walking on the lake, going to the race tracks and spending time with his wife Clara, with whom he loved and was devoted to for forty six years; and
WHEREAS, Maynard was employed with Nabisco and Sears for a lengthy period of time. He retired from Delta Airlines; and
WHEREAS, Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lowell, and Douglas; two sisters, Jo Ann, and Lynn; and leaves to celebrate his life and precious memories; his loving and devoted wife, Clara; daughters, Crystal, Lisa (Keith), Gina, Deborah (Carl); sons, Maynard Devon, Tyrone, and Darryl; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Niles (Ann), Robert (Peggy), Aubrey (Elena), and, Ronald (Amelda); sisters, Charmaine, Rochelle (Jimmy), Elizabeth (Aaron), and Gwendolyn; three Godchildren, Terry Parker, Kelli Walker, and Friz Carter, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; and; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this twenty sixth day of June, 2013, A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Maynard Sherman and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
