RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Kenji Yatsushiro has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety-one; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Kenji Yatsushiro was the loving and devoted husband for sixty-five years of Anne; and
WHEREAS, Kenji Yatsushiro was the much-adored father of Steve, Christine and Therese, the grandfather of five and the great-grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Kenji Yatsushiro was the dear brother of Toshio, Yasuo and Tamio; and
WHEREAS, Kenji Yatsushiro served during World War II as a member of the famed 442nd Regimental Combat Team made up of Japanese-Americans; and
WHEREAS, Kenji Yatsushiro's military unit was the most decorated in the history of the United States and liberated "the Lost Battalion," a group of Texans caught behind enemy lines in southern France in 1944; and
WHEREAS, Following the war, Kenji Yatsushiro studied electrical engineering and enjoyed a career at Dormeyer Industries and Controls Corporation of America; and
WHEREAS, The bravery, hard work, and dedication of Kenji Yatsushiro serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Kenji Yatsushiro to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Kenji Yatsushiro imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2013, do hereby commemorate Kenji Yatsushiro for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kenji Yatsushiro.
