Whereas, The members of this Chamber were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Florentina Santos an outstanding citizen of the Hispanic community in Chicago, Florentina Santos finished her race as a strong Christian and women of faith and has received her crown of righteousness.

Whereas, Florentina Santos married Miguel Angel Santos in July, 1949, together in Puerto Rico they had 6 children. They then moved to Chicago in 1956 where they continued to expand the family having 5 more children, 34 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and growing. This does not include many others she took in as they were her own children.

Whereas, Florentina worked for the city as a social worker, at the Trina Davila Center for 32 years. Florentina was also one of the few people who played a major role in the movements of the Puerto Rican community as well as assisting other Hispanic nationalities. She fought aside her husband as community activists to help provide employment and equal rights for the Hispanics.

Whereas, Florentina and Miguel Santos organized many political and social activities giving them a highly respected reputation. Along the years Florentinao G involvement continued; including but not limited to being crowned as Mrs^ Puerto-

Whereas, after retiring she continued to give her time to working with tpep Alderman and other politicians of Chicago, as well her fellow senior citizej$s,and: doing volunteer work anywhere she could. Her heart was so big it had roffrjfofor ^ z 0 ^ everyone she crossed paths with. The involvement allowed them to become 1,0

pioneers and founders of churches and community organizations. Her love is instilled in the hearts of many and her memory will live forever.
