Title: Congratulations extended to Patricia Jonikaitis on retirement from Chicago Public Schools

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Patricia Jonikaitis has announced her retirement from the Chicago Public Schools after twenty two years at Kate Starr Kellogg School; and,
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her retirement by Alderman Matthew J. O'Shea; and,
WHEREAS, after graduating from Fenger High School, Pat decided that education would be her chosen profession, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Chicago State University, continuing on to earn her Masters Degree at the University of Iowa, in Literary Criticism, with endorsements in Math and Science; and,
WHEREAS, Pat's tenure at Kellogg, proved to be very rewarding for her career, she spent many wonderful years as the International Baccalaureate Options Teacher, she taught freshman Literature to 8th Grade students and taught 7th Grade Life Sciences; and,
WHEREAS, Pat has earned many awards over the years, the Kathy Osterman Award, DRIVE award, Oppenheimer Award, MET Life Ambassador in Education Award, Chicago Foundation for Education, Rochelle Lee Award, Near and Far Sciences Award and Mayor Daley's Landscaping Award; and,
WHEREAS, Patricia married the love of her life, Peter, thirty five years ago, and settled down in the Morgan Park neighborhood to raise her children, Sara, Kristin, Laura and Amanda; and,
WHEREAS, Pat plans to continue to be an active member in the Church ofthe Mediator faith community, and as a super environmentalist work on local environmental issues; and,
WHEREAS, enjoying her retirement with her grandson Shane, Pat will continue to pursue her interests in visiting every United States National Park while balancing dedication to her family as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council assemble this eighth day of June 2011, do hereby congratulate Patricia Jonikaitis on her retirement as well as the many years of service to the Chicago Public Schools and do hereby express our best wish...
