Title: Tribute to late Eddie Mae Lewis

WHEREAS, On Friday, November 16, 2012, the Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom called Eddie Mae Lewis to her eternal journey; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this by 18th Ward Alderman Lona Lane; and
 
WHEREAS, Eddie Mae was born on February 20, 1937 in Tylertown, Mississippi, to the proud parents of Dixie Mae and Edward James. At an early age she confessed her belief for Christ and became a life-long servant of the Lord. She joined Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Webster. After his passing, she continued to be a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Matthews. She truly loved her church family; and
 
WHEREAS, In 1955 she married the love of her life, William Lewis, from this union two daughters were born, Genise and Dianna; and
 
WHEREAS, Eddie Mae enjoyed baking, shopping and keeping in touch with her friends and family. She retired from Chicago Public Schools allowing her more time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
 
WHEREAS, Eddie Mae was preceded in death by her loving parents, Edward and Dixie Mae James; brother, C.W. James; her grandson, Marcus; and leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, William Lewis; two daughters, Genise Lewis-Singleton and Dianna Lewis-Meeks; three grandchildren, Antuan, Patrice and Ronald Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Destiny, Antuan Jr., Anton. Trechon, and Marquise; special cousin, Jean Washington; honorary daughters, Sharon Triggs, Vickie Sanders; and a host of loving family and friends; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this twelfth day of December, 2012 A.D., do hereby express our sorrow in the passing of Eddie Mae Lewis and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Eddie Mae Lewis' family.
