CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO POLICE OFFICER TORREY BARNES ON RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, On September 1, 2017; Detention Officer Torrey Barnes retired from the Chicago Police Department following five years of dedicated public service; and; .
•' WHEREAS; The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Willie B. Cochran, Alderman of the 20th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Detention Officer Torrey Barnes,, retires as a valued member of the 7th ;

- WHERE AS, Dedication to and fulfillment of the motto of the Chicago Police
Department -"We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only
oh the officers who. must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for
countless citizens, but also ori their family members; and - ;
WHEREAS, Throughout a long arid distinguished tenure, Detention Officer Torrey
Barnes upheld the finest traditions of law enforcement community and his hard work,
, commitment and dedication to duty earned him the respect arid admiration of his; colleagues, and
the communities he protected; and "• .
, WHEREAS, Detentiori Officer Torrey Barnes devoted five years of his life in public service, to the people of the City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured thafthe-City of Chicago is the safe, healthy and/vibrant conimunity.if is today; arid
