MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Konstantina Diantzikis, nee Athanailos, on November 17, 2014, at the age of ninety-two; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Konstantina, born on September 14, 1922 in Kareya, Greece, She was the devoted daughter of the late Anastasios and Eleni Athanailos; the beloved wife of the late Theodoros; loving mother of Leo (Soula) Diantzikis, Helen (Armen) Markarian, and Efie (Peter) Spyropoulos; proud grandmother of Tina and Maria Diantzikis, Teri (James) Kollintzas, Soula (Tobert) Thomson, and Haroula Spyropoulos and James (Valerie) Spyropoulos; great grandmother of Peter Spyropoulos, Peter and Nicholas Thomson; dear sister of Glykeria, Peter, Antonia and the Late Kalliope and Kostas Athanailos; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews; and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Konstantina leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, Konstantina was an active and vital member of her community who touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, her generosity, her heart and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this eighteenth day of March 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Konstantina Diantzikis and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
