RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING EDNA C STOVALL ON HER 10<T BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, Mrs. Edna C. Stovall is celebrating her Centennial Birthday. She is truly a testament of time, having experienced some of the most memorable periods in American history; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of this special occasion by the Honorable Gregory I. Mitchell, Alderman of the 7th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Edna has been an enthusiastic, active and much-loved resident of Chicago's 7th Ward Community for over fifty-five years; and
WHEREAS, She was born in Marianna, Arkansas, on February 17, 1917; and
WHEREAS, Edna retired from the U.S. Postal Service after thirty years of service; and
WHEREAS, Edna accepted Christ at an early age, and has been a devoted member of Monumental Baptist Church, in Chicago, Illinois, for seventy-five years; and
WHEREAS, She remains devoted to her family and is cherished by her children, Ronald (Ada) Stovall and Anita Odoms; grandchildren, David Stovall, Alicia Jackson and Angela Odoms Young; and great-grandchildren, Allison, Ashley, Alexandria, Daniel and Asata; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of the rich history to which Edna has witnessed and contributed, the Chicago City Council believes that Edna is richly deserving of adulation and good wishes as she celebrates entering her 100th year of life; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this twenty-second day of February, 2017, do hereby congratulate Mrs. Edna Stovall on her 100th birthday and extend our very best wishes for many more birthdays to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Mrs. Edna C. Stovall.
