MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Charles S. Aguila, at the age of eighty-four; and

 

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, he attended St. Ambrose College, where he was a member of the Phi Gama Delta Fraternity, and he met his wife Carol, at the University of Chicago, where they fell in love and stayed married for fifty-four years; and

 

WHEREAS, a man who dedicated his life to service, Charles served in the United States Army Special Forces unit as a Green Beret, an elite branch of the military requiring special training and an impeccable military record. He also served as an educator in Des Plaines before his retirement thirty-six years ago; and

 

WHEREAS, Charles was the loving and devoted husband to his best friend and adored wife, Carol; doting father of Christine, Carolyn and Charles; cherished grandfather of Spencer and Akira; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him; and

 

WHEREAS, Charles was an active and vital member of his community who touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

 

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and member of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-fourth day of September, 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Charles S. Aguila and express to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles S. Aguila as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
