RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Jerome "Jerry" Tokars has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 85; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerome "Jerry" Tokars was the loving husband of Kathryn and the late Eileen; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerome "Jerry" Tokars was the much-adored father of Carey, Eileen, Tim, Jerry and Annie to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerome "Jerry" Tokars was the dear brother of Tom and David; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerome "Jerry" Tokars attended De LaSalle High School, Xavier of Ohio University, Lewis University and Southwest Missouri State University; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerome "Jerry" Tokars was the Head Basketball Coach at De LaSalle Institute for two decades and also coached at Richards High School, Leo High School and Moraine Valley Community College; and

 

WHEREAS, Jerome "Jerry" Tokars was a member of the Illinois Coaches Hall of Fame and the Catholic League Hall of Fame; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jerome "Jerry" Tokars serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Jerome "Jerry" Tokars to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Jerome "Jerry" Tokars imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this nineteenth day of April, 2017, do hereby commemorate Jerome "Jerry" Tokars for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerome "Jerry" Tokars.
