... WHEREAS, Born and raised in Chicago's Pullman and Roseland .neighborhoods, Alderman Fioretti attended St. Anthony's Grammar School and Mendel High School on Chicago's South Side. He received a Pullman" scholarship to attend the University of Illinois, where he studied political science and served as student body president; and ^
WHEREAS, Alderman Fioretti earned his jaw degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law. After graduation, he enjoyed a highly successful civil rights practice in both the private and public sector, where he supervised more than five hundred civil rights cases and personally tried over one hundred state and federal cases; and
WHEREAS, Alderman Fioretti first ran for qldermanic office in the 2nd Ward in
2007, defeating a 14-year incumbent by a margin of two to one. He was re-
elected in 2011; arid .■ ;
WHEREAS, An ardent supporter of education reform, job credtibn and public parks, Alderman Fioretti supported countless initiatives aimed at improving the Chicago Public Schools system, most notably "Operation Safe Passage," which brings the Chicago Police Department together with community organizations and families to ensure the safety of students when they travel to and from school; and
