RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Joyce Kosarek, a longtime and widely admired resident of the Southwest Side, will celebrate the joyful occasion of her 80th Birthday on October 11, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Joyce Kosarek has displayed a selfless dedication to her faith and her community; and
WHEREAS, Joyce Kosarek has served for more than 25 years as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Simon the Apostle Church under the pastoral leadership of the Reverend Francis Kub and the Reverend Alfredo Gundrum; and
WHEREAS, Whatever the need, Joyce Kosarek has always extended a helping hand as an usher, altar server, or in the kitchen assisting the parish's annual "Breakfast With Santa"; and
WHEREAS, Joyce Kosarek is a familiar presence in the 14th Ward, particularly to the elderly or those dealing with health issues; and
WHEREAS, A person of immense generosity and kindness toward others, Joyce Kosarek often visits patients in the hospital, devotes an entire day to be with someone who is undergoing outpatient surgery and drives patients to follow-up visits with the doctor; and
WHEREAS, Joyce Kosarek also makes visits to nursing homes and assisted living centers, bringing bread and pastries from a neighborhood bakery; and
WHEREAS, Every Christmas, Joyce Kosarek puts together holiday baskets containing fruit and her own home-baked kolacky and distributes them as gifts; and
WHEREAS, Joyce Kosarek lovingly cared for her husband, Ray, until he lost his battle with cancer, and despite her own hardships contributes countless hours enhancing the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, The goodness, sacrifice and dedication of Joyce Kosarek serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of September 2015, do hereby congratulate Joyce Kosarek on the occasion of her 80th Birthday and...
